Thai Massage

What is Thai Massage

Thai Massage is a form of bodywork that uses acupressure and gentle stretching to stimulate the body and release tensions within.

As we connect to the earth through our feet, this is where a Thai Massage will start from. There are some Thai Massage masters who can accurately describe your life events through the energetic life within your feet!

The Masseur will then move up the receivers body releasing tension, and leaving the receiver open, grounded and relaxed.

Are all Thai Massages the same?

The roots of Thai Massage can be traced back to India, with some strong similarities linking it to Yoga & Ayurveda.

With many Thai Massages, the practitioner will work through a routine on you, normally starting on the feet and working up the body. However this is very different to every Thai Massage being the same.

The few true Thai Massage masters that I have met would acknowledge that routine is a great learning tool allowing a student to learn about body mechanics, find their working rhythm and develop the sensitivity to feel & help release the tensions they discover.

A lot of great work can be done through the mastery of a Thai Massage routine and tailoring this routine to the body & soul presented to the masseur. Working as deep as is comfortable over the energy lines of the body and incorporating some stretching to lengthen and tone the muscles and mobilise the joints, makes Thai Massage a wonderful experience. It will leave you with the sensation of having a great workout, while at the same time helping things move on an emotional level if appropriate.

Some Thai Massages however may not follow a routine. If the Masseur is really in tune with what is going on in the receivers body, they may work intuitively using tools and principals that make Thai Bodywork effective. The reason for this is that few people have the same left and right, therefore each side of the body will need something different.
