I
have always been actively interested in bodies and movement, learning
simple circus skills from the age of 5, and developing this fascination
through trampoline, cycling, swimming, dance, gymnastics and football
as life and opportunities presented themselves.
In 2000, movement took on a more
meditative focus as I developed a regular Astanga Yoga practice.
This has been complimented with study of Bikram, Iyenga, Sivananda
and Hatha yoga, and also some Pranayama and Tai Chi.
Qualifying professionally
in Thai Massage at The
School of Thai Yoga Massage and Holistic Massage at the Bristol
College of Massage and Bodywork towards the end of 2003, I
also gained certification in Advanced Thai Massage, Thai Reflexology
and Chavutti Thirumal, traveling in New Zealand and South East
Asia.
Towards the end of my time in
Thailand, I was assisting Asokananda
teach his courses in the Lahoo village, about 80km north of Chiang
Mai; and at his request I taught a few courses at the Sunshine
Massage School. I also spent some time studying with Pichest
Boonthumme, one of Asokananda's teachers.
Since returning to the UK I have
been setting up my own massage practice, assisting Kira Balaskas
(my first teacher) on some of her courses, and working in a health
food store.
My current influences are body
awareness through meditation,
and developing physical trust and body awareness through acrobatic
balancing and acro yoga. |
